How it works

Subcategories

When you log an entry you can optionally write a detail (e.g. “cleaning” under productivity, or “tax return” under admin). A detail becomes a tracked subcategory on the dashboard breakdown when it crosses one of these thresholds in the period you’re viewing:

  • It appears in 2 or more entries, OR
  • A single entry with that detail lasts more than 1 hour.

Matching is case-insensitive and whitespace-tolerant: “Cleaning”, “cleaning”, and “ cleaning ” all merge into the same subcategory. Multiple spaces between words collapse to one, so “tax return” and “tax return” are also the same.

You don’t have to create subcategories yourself — Timeday derives them from your entries each time the dashboard loads.

Time format

The end-time field on the Entry screen uses 24-hour time. The leading zero is optional, so 600 and 0600 both mean 6:00 AM. 1430 is 2:30 PM, 2315 is 11:15 PM. Leave the field blank to use the current time.

Backfill & pre-planning

Past times backfill (“I finished gym at 1830”), future times pre-plan (“I’ll be running until 1700”). Either way, the entry slots onto the right day automatically.

Delete account

Permanently delete your account and all your data — entries, activities, sessions. This is required by GDPR and cannot be undone. Any bug reports you’ve filed will stay but be stripped of your identity.
